General Information

The First Capital of Modern Greek State - Aegina - greets the visitor with the white ekklissaki Ai - Nicholas of sea built by the sailors of Aegina in honor of their patron St. Nicholas, at the edge of the harbor.


The neoclassical buildings on the beach with soothing earth tones, give a sense of serenity, tranquility sought by the visitor to the island but also encourage to walk through the narrow streets of the city to discover the beauty, the sights and monuments an island that show continuous and uninterrupted history of this island since the Aiacus [first king of Aegina] until the time of Kapodistrias.


Three large churches dominate in the city, starting with the Cathedral  where I swore that I Kapodistrias the first governor of the Modern Greek state, Panagitsa the edge of the harbor and the stately mansion and St. Nicholas. Inside Aegina visitors will encounter the Tower of Marcellus, the Evnardeio, the Governor, the orphanage built by Kapodistrias and historic homes of several activists and notables of the era of the Revolution.


On walkthrough of the cobbled streets, the visitor will understand that the current Aegina offers many opportunities for relaxation, recreation and entertainment. The modern market with numerous shops, taverns ouzeries, cafes many bars and nightclubs offer a picture of a modern city, youthful, welcoming living at current rates and can meet the interests and demands of every visitor.

Finally the town of Aegina begin roads for a short tour around the city, the quaint villages, monasteries and beaches.
